The Sewing Machine dress

I've managed to fit some sewing into my all-too-brief holiday this week (going home tomorrow, boo hoo!)

Pattern: Vogue 8727
View E (the blue version in the design images)

This is the same pattern as the Green Marilyn Dress

(This is Mac. He always likes to get in on the action and see what everyone's doing. He'll be featured, along with the other animals who live here, in a couple of posts coming up.)

Oh, hello! There you are!

I love the print of  this fabric. I bought it not knowing what I wanted to make with it, so I bought lots and consequently have a lot left over. I think I'm going to make a bag to go with the dress

The dress is a little bit too long, and a little bit roomy around the waist. I've left it like this deliberately because I forgot to pre-shrink the fabric before I sewed the dress. I'll wash the dress before I see whether any alterations are necessary.

The next couple of posts will probably be filler posts... I actually have to move house AGAIN
(and if you're thinking I moved house not so long ago, you're right... my house is being sold AGAIN, damn renting) so I will be off the radar for a while.
The good news is I have many animal photos to post in the meantime.

  2. Hello darlin'!! You are looking gorgeous and your new frock is utterly perfect!! What amazing fabric and I love the way the bodice is shows off your fabulous rack! I think renting in Oz is really crap - greedy landlords are always selling their investments. We've got until Feb before our landlord pulls our house down and builds some pretentious monstrosity that has no soul. Good luck lovely. xoxo

  3. Lovely fabric for a lovely dress:).
I really feel for you being moved about so much, that's the problem with renting, we've been moved about so often over the past years it's just horrible and you can never feel settled xxx

  4. This is the coolest and most unique fabric I've ever seen. Bravo! Sorry about moving, moving sucks. I hope it goes smoothly for you. I'm all about animal posts, so I'm excited about that! Also, don't worry about catching up with my blog, I'm pretty sure no one reads it anyway :)

  17. That fabric is magnificent and you've done a great job transforming it into that stunning frock.
Mac is a beaut, I'd love to have doggy come and live with us.
I hope your move goes smoothly. The rents here in London are nauseatingly steep because demand is so incredibly high. Flat owners may be struggling to sell but can quite easily convert their properties into a couple of cat litter tray sizes studio flats and make an absolute bomb in rentals. Although our move has been in the back of our minds for some time now it was yet another stinging rent hike that put it into proper motion.
    All the best,
    Jennie
