Yesterday I went to the Bendigo Art Gallery to see the Grace Kelly exhibition. I don't admire Grace Kelly particularly but I wanted to see the fashion. The demure, high-necked, long-sleeved fashion as it turned out.
It's just not my style.
There were some designs from Dior and Chanel and some other designers from the 60's & 50's which were fun to see.
Afterwards, I went op-shopping. Across the road and up the hill from the Bendigo Art Gallery is a little vintage shop called Vonica's Vintage (they have no website). It has pieces from the 50's onwards in all their garish glory as well as the usual op-shop bits and pieces. There is also a large selection of wedding dresses of varying degrees of attractiveness. The prices are incredibly cheap.
Look what I found.
These stockings are hilarious. They don't have much stretch, and they're actually shaped like a leg. I've seen feet-shaped stockings but not leg-shaped stockings. I haven't tried them on yet.
This pink thing will be very comfortable for those days I when I feel the need to swan around the house. I need (NEED) to find a wide headband to wear with it, preferably in horrible contrasting tones, and suitable cocktail glasses.
I don't know what crimplene is exactly but I don't have anything else made of it (a bit worrying slash interesting that my measurements match the size 16 measurements exactly. However, the garment is very wide and would fit a house, so they're more like guidelines).
I do love these negligee things. I always look at them and never buy them because I just don't think I'd wear them. I'll definitely wear this one. The brown is just hideous enough to enjoy and it's nice and long. I'm confident I can find a brown nightie or slip to wear under it. Or maybe orange, or baby blue.
This is my favourite find. Purple, velvet what more do I need to say?
